Tales from the Taproom – what brings you to the Borders?
One of our brilliant team members, Lee-Anne, had an even more brilliant idea for a wee blog about life at the Cross Keys Inn.
Not a travel blog (because the Borders already speaks for itself and the folk over at Scotland Starts Here do masses of travel and visitor inspiration), but a blog about people — the stories, the reasons, the curious detours that bring guests to our little corner of the world.
And so ‘Tales from the Taproom‘ was born, and once a week, Lee-Anne shares what she loves most about pub life: the characters that pass through, the conversations shared over a pint, and those magical moments where someone sees the Borders for the first time and really gets why we all love it so much.

There’s something incredibly special about the ebb and flow of people who pass through our pub — each bringing their own energy, curiosity, and charm. They add to its history in the same way that the gallery of yesteryear locals on the walls and the yarns of the village (many of whose families have lived in the village for generations), do.
So for us ‘Tales from the Taproom’ is a perfect way of capturing these stories and making real connections with all our guests. It’s heart-warming, cosy and friendly and inspires us all to find out just that little bit more about the people we meet along the way.
Lee-Anne enjoys a good chat so it wouldn’t surprise us if she’s also planning a ‘Tales from the Taproom’ podcast but for now, have a read, and if she’s is working when you visit, she’d love to know what brings you to the Borders 🙂
