The Cross Keys Inn Scores Historic Hat-Trick at Scottish Thistle Awards

On Thursday evening (20th November) we were incredibly proud to cement our place among Scotland’s standout hospitality businesses after being crowned Best Bar or Pub at the Scottish Thistle Awards—for the third year in a row.

This achievement is particularly significant as it comes three years after we first opened the doors of the Cross Keys Inn after a major renovation project. To collect a hat-trick of Scottish Thistle Best Bar or Pub wins in the same number of years is an exceptional milestone for our wee village inn and a testament to all the work our team have put in to contribute to this rapid rise as a destination for locals and visitors alike.

Often described as “the Oscars of the tourism industry,” the annual Scottish Thistle Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and outstanding achievements across Scotland’s tourism and hospitality industry. Organised by VisitScotland, the ceremony recognises businesses and individuals who deliver exceptional visitor experiences and contribute to Scotland’s global reputation as a world-class destination. Winning once is a remarkable feat; winning three times consecutively is a very special accolade.

Judges praised our commitment to warm service, quality food and drink, and a community-first ethos that has shaped the pub since day one and turned it into a welcoming Borders favourite. This really is down to our whole team, who work tirelessly to keep our passion for quality, community, and amazing hospitality at the heart of everything we do. We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved together and so grateful to our wonderful team, loyal guests, and local community for all their support..
